The common Hackberry tree can be found growing wild in Southwestern desert arroyos.
The tree can grow to 100 feet high, but usually does not exceed 40 to 60 feet.
Requires full sun and moderate watering. Very drought and heat tolerant.
The Hackberry is an interesting tree with rough corky bark. Resistance to diseases and most pest problems, coupled with it's other attributes make this a very different but good tree choice for the Southwest landscape.
